SirNavid that is some going. Depends on what mood I am in. I have all the Christie novels (leather bound - which look nice in a bookcase!!!!!) given to me from way, way, way back also have a liking for Lindsey Davis's Marcus Didius Falco and Umberto Eco's one off The Name of the Rose, far superior than the film made with Sean Connery.

"Kittywake09; is that the Christie novels about the school teacher who goes west and falls in love with Rev. David and Dr. Mcneil?"No Agatha Christie novels. They were passed to me by a relative. I know a lot do not like her and they have been over dramastised but she was an incredible writer. They are far more interesting than the TV shows or films. Hercule is not such a figure of fun to be poked at like on TV. Do you find this valuable? |

I am also a big C J Sansom fan because of the Tudor period and love his lawyer/detective Matthew Shardlake. Depends on what mood I am in I just love mysteries.

what do you mean all Christie novels? you mean you have over 70 novels only from Agatha Christie ? BTW between all Christie works I like murder in stylus and curtain more than others. and Nero Wolfe was also very good. I saw the film in the name of rose too but I had no idea it was based on a real book. Do you find this valuable? |

This is a boring story but my ceiling collapsed wih a flood and a lot of my books got damaged also had yet another flood but that is another story. A lot of my books are in storage, but like my leather bound ones for effect!! A lot of childhood books also damaged. Name of the Rose is a brilliant book far more atmospheric and complex than the film. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Name_of_the_Rose Do you find this valuable? |

I like Hercule in "Death on the Nile" but I don't like the guy who plays him in the TV show. Have you soon "Murder She Wrote"? I always prefered male detectives, but Miss Marple's ok. Sorry my quote and reply not working. It is David Suchet who plays him on TV. They seem to make Hercule into a cariacture but David plays him the best. Albert Finney's was a buffoon. Agatha Christie worked in a pharmacy during the war and acquired knowledge of poisons. The play Mousetrap is the longest running play in the world and has been running since 1952. She has some genius plots.

No, Hercule Poriot was in the books...but David Suchet portrays him on the show. He was the best one to portray him on screen. Others were wierd. :-)

The other actors that portayed him over exagerrated his quirks and Hercule ended up looking like a caricature. Wonderful stories Do you find this valuable? |
