Who is the best Moriarty?

Well, there have been many actors to play him, with only a few actually staying true to the books. The first known Moriarty was Booth Conway, and the last one, was played by an unknown actor. But who is your favourite? Mine personally is Lionel Atwill, who played in "Sherlock Holmes and the Secret Weapon." I thought he looked a lot like Moriarty, and was very brilliant in that film. -- Chime in below! Do you find this valuable? |

I like Eric Porter from the JB series and his restrained fury when Holmes interrupts his plans.

Atwill for me! I love how in "the secret weapon" he and Holmes (when Holmes is kidknapped) just sit down and happiliy discuss each others' demise like two old chums! lol.

Just get used to seeing Eric Porter because in UK Jeremy Brett is on a loop every day !! Feel a Basil marathon coming on for the weekend.

Just seeing opening credits puts me in mood for Basil !! going awry here but in one of Jeremy's Sherlocks which is the one where he has a fight in a tavern and starts to box but looks quite foppish until he lands a punch ?

"Mine too! I wish Lionel Atwill was Moriarty in more than just one film..."He was in Secret Weapon for sure, but I also think he was in the 1939 basil & nigel "Hound of the Baskervilles". Correct if I'm wrong though, I havn't seen this movie yet :( but I want too! Do you find this valuable? |
