George? Really?

I'm sorry, but NOWHERE in the canon does it mention that Lestrade's first name is 'George.' We are given the initial 'G' and that is all. The only place that he is given the name George is in the film 'Without a Clue' and in a fanfiction or two. Check your facts, please. c:

Also, Lestrade isn't an idiot. He's certainly no Sherlock Holmes but going so far as to call him an idiot is cruel. He's conventional and "unimaginative" (as Holmes put it), but when you look at it, many of the conclusions he draws are indeed logical. Incorrect most of the time, but logical all the same. Try reading "The Six Napoleons"; it takes both Holmes AND Lestrade's resources to solve that one.
