House/Holmes
I have seen House plenty of times! I knew most of the references from the House episodes. I had to do some research for most of the Sherlockian references. You should watch House sometime. It's a pretty neat little show!

instalation issue
I have been having the same problem. So, I e-mailed Legacy Interactive, and they gave me the solution. It worked for me, let me know if it worked for you:
"There is now an update to the game to correct the issue on systems that have
been automatically updated to Flash Player 10. To download the patch for the
CD-ROM version of Sherlock Holmes, please go to http://www.legacygames.com/help/patch/sherlockholmes/
If you have a digital download version of the game, please go to
http://www.legacygames.com/contact/ and contact us via that page to request a
patch for the digital download version. "
