Sir Henry Baskerville is a Character from the Sherlock Holmes Story, "The Hound of The Baskervilles"


Appearence

Sir Henry is the nephew of Sir Charles Baskerville. He is also Sir Charles' Closest living relative. He is described to be "a small, alert, dark-eyed man about thirty years of age, very sturdily built.".

He appeared once in the Sherlockian Canon. Which is in the novel "Hound of the Baskervilles." He was known to live in the Baskerville Estate, Which was the home of his ancestors.


Attempted to be Killed

Sir Henry was attempted to be killed. But most of the people at Baskerville Hall didn't expect it. In the novel, Holmes finds a painting in Baskerville Hall which reveals Sir Henry's life is in danger. It also proved that Holmes' Theory was right.

Sir Henry is told by Holmes he is safe to walk on the moor. But Holmes didn't know that the Hound was being kept in a wooden shed. Jack Stapleton, lets go of the hound so it can kill Sir Henry, but Sherlock and Watson are waiting for it. The hound does catch up to Sir Henry. But Sherlock Holmes and Watson find Sir Henry being attcked by the hound. Holmes then attempts to kill the hound. Stapleton, Gets away, but later is found out to be the killer.


Film Appearances

Sir Henry has been portrayed many times on screen, from 1914 all the way to 2002.

Some of the most notable actors was Richard Greene, who played Sir Henry in the 1939 film "The Hound of the Baskervilles" which also starred Basil Rathbone as Holmes.

Sir Henry has appeared in nearly all of the film adaptions of "The Hound of the Baskervilles." So, up to date, over 20 actors have portrayed him.
