He his an actor, producer, and even a musician. He has appeared as Iron Man, and many more different characters over the years. He has acted in eight of his father's films, including "Pound" and "Greaser's Palace."

His father's name is Robert Downey Sr. He is an actor, writer and producer. His mother's name is Elsie Downey. She is an actor and has appeared mainly in Robert Downey Sr.'s films.

His father was born as Robert Elias, but he changed it to Robert Downey after his stepfather, James Downey.


Career as Holmes:

He played as Sherlock Holmes in the 2009 film by Guy Ritchie. With Jude Law as Watson, Rachel McAdams as Irene Adler and Mark Strong as Lord Blackwood.

Robert Downey Jr. has revealed he is definately not a Holmes fan. He says that Holmes is "Querky and Nuts" and other things with innapropiate language. Rachel McAdams says anybody who reads the books becomes a fan.

Robert Downey has also said this is the hardest role he has ever played. Even Iron Man and all of those other roles were easier than Holmes.


Life after Holmes:

Robert Downey Jr. starred in the 2010 film Iron Man 2. He played Tony Stark and Iron Man in the film. He also played the roll as Peter Highman in the 2010 comedy film "Due Date".
