Here is a very interesting article from Charlotte Anne Walters (the author of the upcoming novel, "Barefoot on Baker Street".) on the subject of Irene Adler being the right woman for Holmes. Very interesting...be sure to go read this. ;)

I'm excited that Mycroft will be in it; I think he's so funny. He is very much like Rex Stouts Nero Wolf. brilliant, but to lazy to get out of the chair lol.

Dr John Watson reporting in The Sign of Four of his "experience of women which extends over many nations and three separate continents") what do you think? Nigel Bruce always lusted after every lady he came into contact with the exception being Mrs Hudson.

I'm sorry, but NOWHERE in the canon does it mention that Lestrade's first name is 'George.' We are given the initial 'G' and that is all. The only place that he is given the name George is in the film 'Without a Clue' and in a fanfiction or two. Check your facts, please. c:
Also, Lestrade isn't an idiot. He's certainly no Sherlock Holmes but going so far as to call him an idiot is cruel. He's conventional and "unimaginative" (as Holmes put it), but when you look at it, many of the conclusions he draws are indeed logical. Incorrect most of the time, but logical all the same. Try reading "The Six Napoleons"; it takes both Holmes AND Lestrade's resources to solve that one.

Hardly. Lestrade is a practical, (somewhat) stubborn, and layered character. Yes, he cleaves to what could be a black and white morality, but it's a crusade, an outlook that provides for something better than the rather atrocious crimes of his time period.
While not nearly as intelligent as Holmes (few-- except Mycroft-- can claim anything close), Lestrade is not neither an unintelligent nor stupid man. To even get onto the force, an average or higher intelligence is almost nessisary, certainyl to make it to the rank of Inspector, plain-clothes detective no less.
Lestrade was no more an idiot than Watson, he was simply put in a bad position doomed to failure when he tries to complete against Holmes.
